Luigi Del Basso
FinTech - Expertise - Adviser - Consultation

I am an entrepreneur and visionary leader with strong technical expertise and business acumen. Much of my career has been spent defining, mapping, and executing the core direction of international business ventures from inception. I have built and sold a multimillion dollar payments company and I am also an experienced boardroom executive.
Luigi began his career as a software developer at Lloyds Bank, London UK. By the end of his 5 years, he ran a team of 11 developers and implemented the data communication project linking all ATMs to the Data Center via 13 Unix servers. He was recruited by Olivetti to implement the Bancomat ATM network in Milan Italy and worked as a consultant for 2 years with the successful conclusion of the project. Upon return to the UK, he was retained by NatWest Bank as a consultant of his company Servebase, to engage with tier 1 clients and oversee their moving away from manual debit and credit card settlement systems to online solutions. He was a member of the technical working groups that established the international data communication standards for card authorizations and settlement, ISO8583, APACS 27/29/30. During this period, he identified a need for a solution-ready product that the bank could sell or provide to their clients, thus removing a similar development project for each client.
The product was named PC-EFT. Once complete, Luigi presented PC-EFT to NatWest Bank, and they went on to purchase the IPR from Luigi. The 2 main features being a simple interface (API) and the support of multiple currencies. It was the first Microsoft Windows payment processing product. Over the proceeding 2 years the solution was provided to 220 merchants. NatWest group IT did not maintain it and Luigi bought back the IPR. This allowed Servebase to establish relationships with other banks. Initially in the UK and subsequently globally. Servebase grew organically to 3 global office locations across 32 countries processing $15 Billion of real-time payments for 3,000 clients.
Clients included WorldPay, Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Boots, Starwood Hotels, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Costa Crociere, Planet Payment, Micros (Oracle). WorldPay was interested in our multi-currency solution and Servebase installed and maintained an 18 server PC-EFT system from their Jersey office.
In 2010 Servebase realized that it required .NET (cloud) versions of its products and sought capital to develop. Abacus Partners acquired a major shareholding in 2011. The company was also rebranded to PXP and the product to ANYPay. Luigi and his family moved to the US to oversee merchant implementation projects, the largest being Abercrombie & Fitch, who to this date are still using ANYPay at every POS, including Hollister.
In 2015 PXP was sold to Kalixa, an Austrian payment processor and Luigi exited. They are now known as PXP Financial and have the same UK headquarters and the majority of the original team that Luigi built. Luigi’s five-year non-compete agreement expired in 2020.
Since then, Luigi has acquired, merged, and sold businesses in the US. He became the COO of React (www.react.net) and developed and operated the NFL games on the Super Squares app (www.supersquares.com), and the React & Win app (www.react.win). Additionally, he has provided consultancy services to payment startups, Transactive (www.transactive.co) and Twinn (www.twinn.me).
